First King Air 350i Fusion Aircraft Upgraded with PT6A-67A Engines
A King Air 350i with a Blackhawk PT6-67A conversion and 5-Blade MT Propellers
A Milestone Installation: PT6A-67A Engines and 5-Blade MT-Propellers on a King Air 350i with Fusion Avionics
West Coast Aircraft Maintenance at Long Beach Airport has reached a major milestone with the successful installation of Pratt & Whitney PT6A-67A engines on a King Air 350i equipped with Collins Pro Line Fusion avionics, paired with 5-bladed MT-Propellers. This first-of-its-kind combination at our facility underscores the technical depth and proven capability of our maintenance team.
Demonstrating Advanced King Air Capability
The PT6A-67A engine is widely recognized for delivering enhanced performance, efficiency, and reliability on the King Air 350i platform. These PT6A-67A engines will hold 1050 SHP till 25,000 feet while stock engines start losing horsepower at 15,000 feet. Integrating these engines on a Fusion-equipped aircraft requires detailed system knowledge, disciplined execution, and seamless coordination across multiple specialties. Completing this installation in-house demonstrates our shop’s ability to manage complex, high-value upgrades from start to finish.
The 5-Blade Advantage
This aircraft is also equipped with 5-bladed MT-Propellers, further elevating performance and operating comfort. Designed to enhance both efficiency and the ownership experience, these propellers bring several meaningful advantages:
Quiet Operation
Operators benefit from up to 5 dBA less noise during cruise, along with exceptional quietness during taxi. Unlike traditional 4-blade configurations that require a minimum prop RPM of 1100, this setup allows for quieter ground operations without compromise.
Ground Idle Solenoid Eliminated
The 5-blade configuration removes the need for a ground idle solenoid, simplifying systems and improving overall operational efficiency.
Unlimited Blade Life
Engineered for long-term durability, these propellers eliminate recurring blade life limitations, reducing long-term maintenance considerations.
On-Wing Balancing and Repairs
Innovative design allows for on-wing balancing and repairs without removing the propeller, minimizing downtime and increasing dispatch reliability.
A Team Effort Worth Recognizing
This milestone would not be possible without the dedication and expertise of our maintenance technicians, inspectors, and support staff. Their attention to detail and commitment to quality ensured a smooth installation and a successful return to service. Huge thanks to the entire team for an outstanding job well done.
